A conjoined public inquiry was held on 23 and 24 January 2024 to consider objections to both the Compulsory Purchase Order and the Side Roads Order.

Update on the Side Roads Order (SRO)

The Side Roads Order inquiry is now closed and the Secretary of State for Transport’s decision is awaited.  The Council is keeping in regular contact with the National Casework Unit (who process the SRO decision on behalf of the Secretary of State) and will confirm to all those directly affected as soon as the decision on the SRO is received.  Press and site notices will also be published.

Update on the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO)

Once the Secretary of State for Transport makes their decision on the SRO then the Inspector will be able to close the CPO inquiry and make their decision on the CPO.  Again, the Council is keeping in contact with the Planning Casework Unit (who process the CPO decision on behalf of the Inspector) and will write to all those directly affected as soon as the decision on the CPO is received.  Press and site notices will also be published.

Further updates will be provided when available.  You can find out more about the inquiry here .

A Pre Inquiry Meeting was held on 19 October 2023.  You can read a summary report of the meeting here

In advance of the public inquiry, the Council was required to prepare a Statement of Case setting out its purpose for making both orders together with its response to any objections received.

A copy of the Statement of Case is provided below, along with copies of those key documents referred to in the Statement.  We will keep this page updated with any further information received in relation to the public inquiry.”
