Langarth Transport Links & Sustainable Travel

Langarth Transport

Convenient, Green Travel: Threemilestone, Truro and Beyond

Access easy-to-use, green transport links that provide positive connections with surrounding communities. You may have already witnessed the recent improvements to the A390, which connects seamlessly with existing settlements, such as Threemilestone, Treliske and Gloweth, Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro & Penwith College, and Truro. The new Northern Access Road (NAR) construction is also well underway and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025. We are also crafting green corridors, walkways and cycle paths so you can enjoy an active, healthy and low-carbon lifestyle.

Langarth Park and Ride

We’ve already extended the Park and Ride operating hours, with buses running until 10 pm. As part of our ongoing transport strategy, we’re adding 600 extra parking spaces at the Langarth Park and Ride site, making it even easier for residents and visitors to travel effortlessly to their destinations.

Langarth Bus Connections

We’re making significant improvements to bus services at Langarth. Bus stops will be conveniently located in each local centre, with connections to Langarth Park and Ride, RCHT, and Truro, creating a fully integrated public transport network. We’re also developing plans for cheaper fares and cycle parking, e-bike charging stations, and seating areas at bus stops – transforming them into inviting community meeting spaces.

Walkways and Cycleways

We are developing pedestrian and cycle routes to connect every part of the development seamlessly. These paths and cycleways will offer easy access to key destinations, such as schools, the sports hub, health care facilities and recreational areas, making it easier than ever for residents to enjoy a car-free, eco-friendly lifestyle. Langarth also provides cycle parking, storage, and training programmes to encourage active, healthy lives.

E-bikes and E-Car Clubs

We’re committed to helping residents lead more active lives while reducing their reliance on cars. By offering e-bike and e-car clubs at Langarth, we provide convenient access to transport when needed while also minimising air and noise pollution from traffic. This initiative supports a healthier, cleaner environment for everyone.

Langarth Rail Connections

The Saints Trails route from St Agnes will connect to Langarth at the proposed West Langarth junction, offering onward links to the railway station and Truro city centre. We are also exploring reopening the halt behind Threemilestone Business Park with partners, which would provide a convenient option for those travelling from west Cornwall.

Langarth Road Links

The new boulevard-style Northern Access Road (NAR) will connect all the developments within Langarth Garden Village, providing a direct route to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske – bypassing the A390. The first section, the Interim Link Road, will be constructed near the Sports Hub, opening up the site for development from the West.

The new junction at A390 Penstraze and the revised A390 junction near Richard Lander School will serve as the main access points to Langarth. These improved links will provide more direct access to the hospital and Treliske retail park, bypassing the Threemilestone to Gloweth sections of the A390 for greater convenience and reduced congestion.

Designed with pedestrians in mind, the NAR will feature a 20mph speed limit and 3km of new footways and cycleways, creating a safe and accessible route for all. Upgrades to the A390 are also in progress, which will create multiple safe crossing points to connect Threemilestone and Langarth, reducing traffic and improving accessibility.
