Why hasn’t the Council delayed the applications until its Climate Emergency Plan and the amended Truro and Kenwyn Neighbourhood Development Plan are in place?

The proposals for the Langarth Garden Village have been developed by Cornwall Council working with groups such as the local stakeholder panel to help ensure that it meets as many of the wider objectives of the area as possible. This means that the proposals have been developed in the light of both the emerging Council’s proposals for climate change and the review of the Neighbourhood plan. Delaying the application would lose the opportunity to deliver infrastructure early and potentially leave the development to be led by private developers who would not yet need to comply with draft documents, such as the Neighbourhood Plan review, which unfortunately at a still early stage in its development
