We know that many people in Truro (and throughout) Cornwall are struggling to get on the housing ladder. This site is allocated for housing in the Cornwall Local Plan and houses will be built whether the Council is involved or not. Our involvement will provide improved housing design and placemaking.

Langarth already has permission for housing, but we’re working with Truro City and Kenwyn Parish Councils to implement their Neighbourhood Plan principles and create a vibrant, connected, well planned community for between 8,000 and 10,000 future residents.

We are currently planning to build approximately 3,850 new homes over a 20 to 25 year period. We are mindful of the needs of the most vulnerable in our community and are also looking at opportunities for extra care and other forms of accommodation for older people and people with disabilities, as well as accommodation for student health workers and other key workers. 35% of homes on the site will be affordable for local people. This proportion will be legally binding on developers.

The scheme will include:

  • Local character.
  • Strong services.
  • Integrated and accessible transport.
  • Green spaces.
