There is already a high degree of protection of historic features in the planning system which the planning application will need to adhere to .
The scoping exercise will provide further guidance on the potential impacts on key features that will be addressed in the planning application. Often this can be achieved through the production of ‘parameter plans’. These plans also set out how to avoid or mitigate these impacts. Developers work with Councils and other statutory agencies to produce these.
This may mean for example:
- Not allowing development in certain areas.
- Limiting the height of buildings that may affect views of particular features.
