The new boulevard style Northern Access Road (NAR) will connect all the developments on the Langarth site and provide a route through the Garden Village to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske avoiding the A390.

With a new junction at A390 Penstraze and a revised A390 junction at Richard Lander School providing the principal accesses to Langarth the links to the hospital and the Treliske retail park will allow more direct access without having to use the Threemilestone to Gloweth sections of the A390.

An application for full planning permission for the Northern Access Road (NAR) is due to be submitted to Cornwall Council in Autumn 2020 as part of a hybrid application with also includes outline planning permission for the Langarth Garden Village development.

The application will then be considered in detail by members of the Strategic Planning Committee. As this is such a significant scheme this first stage of the planning process to give outline planning permission is not expected to be determined until Summer 2021.

Subject to all the necessary approvals and consents being secured, work is anticipated to start on constructing the new road in September 2021 and be completed in Spring 2024.
